LOTR On Prime: Timeline of The Second Age

Image
THE PURPOSE OF THIS INFOGRAPHIC With Amazon's new show in the works, tentatively titled, "LOTR On Prime", you might be wondering what the show will be about. What content is available for them to use? Where are they getting this from? Will characters from the Lord of the Rings films be in it? This timeline was created to answer and visualize many of these questions, designed with the casual fan in mind. It is an infographic illustrating almost everything that takes place in The Second Age, which is when the show will take place (we say "almost" because, inevitably, there's always something else that could be included). WHAT IF I ONLY KNOW THE MOVIES? The Lord of the Rings takes place during the Third Age of the world. While this is certainly the most iconic story that J.R.R. Tolkien ever wrote, he also built an extensive world beyond that of The War of the Ring. The Amazon Prime show will take place primarily during The Second Age, which many events go on t

Behind The Lens: NYC 2021 Calendar

It's become tradition at Christmas time that I make a calendar of photos I've taken in NYC with my DSLR camera. Unfortunately due to COVID-19, I only visited the city a handful of times this year and didn't go taking pictures (besides a few quick shots with my iPhone). So for this year's calendar, I took some of my favorite past photos to create my NYC 2021 calendar. COVER IMAGE - Columbus Ave, Broadway & The Lincoln Performing Arts Center Okay so for this first cover image, it's actually a panoramic photo I took with my iPhone 7 (it's the one  exception I made to the DSLR rule, at the behest of others). This view is from The Empire Hotel which we visited for my sister's birthday in 2018. It's a gorgeous view of New York, and you can see the Lincoln Performing Arts Center to the left. JANUARY - Atlas, Rockefeller Center This grand statue with the building towering behind it is an iconic location in NYC, and has appeared in multiple films. I took this

Behind The Lens: NYC 2020 Calendar

Every year I make a calendar of photos I've taken in NYC with my DSLR camera. New York City is one of my favorite places to be, and I like the challenge of not just using photos from my iPhone. My 2020 calendar is made up of photos I took in 2019 with my Canon Rebel T6i: COVER IMAGE - Downtown NYC at Dusk from the Staten Island Ferry I should just admit at this point that this is my favorite view of New York. I've had a version of it every single year. I drive through Staten Island, park for just a few bucks, and then take the Staten Island Ferry for free into New York, and every single time I'm in awe. What I love about this shot is how crisp it is, and how on the left side you can see the skyscrapers of the Hudson Yards now beginning to take shape. Also notice the digital billboard on the boat near the bottom of the Freedom Tower. JANUARY - Long Island City Train at Queensboro Plaza As my brother-in-law put it, this shot is very "Long Island." It's a famous

Behind The Lens: NYC 2019 Calendar

Last year I challenged myself personally to create a calendar of pictures I took of New York City with my Pentax camera. The trick was that it couldn’t be made of photos taken with my iPhone. I love taking pictures of the city and so this was my way of doing something with it. These are the list of photos that I’m including for the 2019 calendar.   Below each photo is a brief commentary on what went on behind the lens, or what may have been the inspiration for each photo. Last year’s 2018 calendar (made up of pictures I took in 2017 with my Pentax) was primarily all of my favorite iconic shots of New York. This year, instead of taking those same types of photos over again (which I am likely to do, I can’t get enough of them), I wanted to continue to push myself to take a different type of photography. I wanted to take pictures that weren’t necessarily the traditional image, but were still clearly New York . COVER IMAGE – Downtown NYC from the Staten Island Fer
