Two Types of People
Jesus says that if we seek, we will find (Matthew 7:7). Everyone in the world is seeking
something. The question is: what are you
seeking?
“WHY?” PEOPLE
These people seek excuses.
And they always find them.
There’s always an excuse for everything.
And that’s the thing. If we are
looking for excuses, we can always find one.
When God first calls Moses to lead the people out of Egypt, Moses makes
excuses like he isn’t a good public speaker, the people won’t believe him, etc.
(Exodus 3:11-4:14). Moses was afraid to
leave the comfort of his home to follow God into the unknown.
“WHY NOT?” PEOPLE
These people seek opportunities. And opportunities usually present themselves
as problems. But if we are seeking
opportunities, they will come our way.
One of the best examples of a “Why Not?” person in the Bible is the
Ethiopian eunuch. When the Ethiopian
learned about being baptized, he basically asked, “Why not do it right
now? What’s stopping me?” (Acts
8:36-38). If only we could adopt that
attitude!
CONCLUSION // THE
GOAL
I definitely tend to lean towards the “Why?” side. It’s easy to find excuses, especially when
opportunities come disguised as problems.
We want to remain comfortable and can rationalize why we shouldn’t do
something. But if we become a “Why Not?”
person, God will be able to use us in greater ways. We'll live out the purpose He’s called
us to!
