The Answer is "C"
This is just a thought I had recently. In Colossians (currently my favorite book of
the Bible, tied with Hebrews), Paul writes:
“My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united
in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in
order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden
all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding
arguments,” (Colossians 2:2-4).
This passage is LOADED with information, but I just had a
simple thought to myself. Paul states
that all the treasures of wisdom and
knowledge are hidden in Christ.
He says this so that the Colossians won’t be deceived by “fine-sounding”
or “persuasive” arguments.
There is a simple truth Paul is getting at: Knowing
CHRIST is the answer to persuasive arguments.
I am a huge proponent of knowing what you believe, and I
think a large part of that has to do with knowing how to systematically defend
your beliefs. “Always be prepared to
give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that
you have. But do this with gentleness
and respect,” (1 Peter 3:15).
But sometimes people, who are probably gifted with talking,
can sound convincing or make us
doubt certain truths of God’s
Word. The BEST way to not be deceived by these false words is as simple as knowing Christ! Knowing Christ Himself will allow us to learn
the hidden treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
AKA, having a relationship
with Jesus, knowing Him, His character, and His love is the greatest defense against false
teachings and deceptive arguments.
Facts, philosophy, and scientific evidence are incredible aids when it
comes to this. But ultimately, knowing Christ personally is the answer.
This was just really profound for me, taking it back to
basics. Knowing Christ is the
answer. Hope that helps in some
way. Pursue your relationship with
Jesus!
